The fitness industry is filled with a lot of noise and opinions that can make it difficult to know who to trust and where to begin. Oftentimes the most flashy and extreme ideas and quick-fix promises gain the most traction. Social media often exacerbates the problem, sharing information that is not fully accurate or helpful. There is a lot of health and fitness information being shared online that is not backed by science and lacks the practicality for long term sustainability.
My approach to health and fitness is to keep it simple and not unnecessarily overcomplicate it in an effort to gain more followers or attract those looking for a quick fix. However, simple does not mean easy. And it also does not mean boring! In fact, I believe keeping fitness simple allows my clients the space to work really hard toward their goals while also having fun!
Before I became a Certified Personal Trainer, I worked in the field of Social Work before staying home with my four kids. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Social Work. I have worked in a variety of human service settings, walking with people as they navigated and processed challenges in life.
I bring a lot of those same skills from my Social Work career into my Personal Training career. I work hard to create a space where people can come and feel safe to be their genuine selves. Life can be hard! I consider it a privilege to be invited in, even if it’s just to a small part of your day.
I learned very early on in my own fitness journey that it is much more fun when done with others! I have been working out in my garage with friends (old and new) for 7 years now. I believe a fitness community helps with consistency and accountability, and deepens relationships.
Most of my clients choose the Semi Private Personal Training option. This option provides you with an individualized workout plan and attention, yet you work out at the same time as 1-2 other people. I believe this option provides the encouragement, accountability, and relationship building that makes fitness sustainable and fun. I am also happy to provide Individual Personal Training and find ways to build community among all of my clients, even when they don’t physically train together.
